The art of BATIK is an intricate wax "resist"
method of design which was first
developed thousands of years ago in Java.

Melted wax is applied to fabric, and
the fabric is then dyed. After the cloth has
dried, other areas are waxed, and then
it is dyed a second color.
This process is repeated until the design
is completed.

Heliodoro Santa Coloma has taken and
developed this ancient technique, and
through it, has evolved a style of painting
which is as unique as it is beautiful.
